Megalomania and christmas sale in my etsy

Hello =)

Long time no write, eh? Sorry :-/ But for now, I'm back :)
And first of all I would like to tell you that I did it again - I created a coupon for christmas on etsy ^_^ So use the code ArtChristmas2015 and you'll get 15% off everything I have there ;)
I'm by the way also planning to do the one or another raffle as usual in the end of the year ... just waiting for the prizes to arrive ...

Aaaand the other thing there is: I think megalomania has hit me ^_^ I started a huuuge, immensely detailed drawing project on the A2 (42 x 59,4 cm / 16 1/2" x 23 1/3") - Paper I got lately. Actually I already carried this around with me for quite a while now but never really had an idea how to bring it down to paper... but well, the day has come :D Though I won't yet reveal which song has inspired me. Will be a surprise :) I have big plans with this one. And I got some neat leaf metal from my boss that I will use on this as well :D Wish me luck that I won't mess it up ...
Here are some WIPs for you:

Develops better than I had expected in the beginning... let's see what becomes of this! :D I also got my fingers pretty black while doing the sky with graphite powder and a sponge :D

Last but not least - you may have probably already wondered why I have switched part of my online presence to german, right? This has the simple reason that I just can't seem to make my web page bi-lingual so I have to wait until my boss finds out how to ... I tried and did everything exactly as in the tutorial but it didn't work -_- I also try to establish myself in the german market now, trying to reach more people. And since everyone gets shocked here when I say sorry my web page is in english ... I decided to for now switch it to my mother tongue :) Sorry for any inconvenience you may have due to this.

Wishing you a lovely rest-of-the-week and see you soon *vanishes*

Still alive.

Hello :)

Sorry, had totally forgotten I still have a blog o.O
I'm still alive and kicking (well ok, more working these days.), though there's a lot to do lately and I'm permanently working on stuff ... I'd like to keep you up to date with what I've been doing lately.

First of all I can finally show you one of my secret projects I've been working on in the last months, a biiig thing: the official poster for the german drama / horror / thriller movie "Bittersweet Revenge", produced by a friend of mine & being released in the beginning of next year :)

... along with the making of :) Please click on the pic, it will lead you to my upload on deviant art where you can view it in bigger size (yeah I admit I didn't feel like uploading 17 MB to blogger :D. I'd also like to present along with this - our facebook fanpage :

And then there was this other big thing I've been working on - a book cover for a friend of mine's vampire novel, called "Vampirmächte". Still only available in german but if you're interested, you can get the book in the following shops: You can get the book in the following shops (go grab it, I for my part like it very much! :) ):

At the moment it's only available as ebook. Paper form should come somewhen soon =)

Here's the ebook- and paper cover I did:

Never did a book cover before ... Still, my friend was satisfied and offered me to do the covers of the other parts she'll write as well ^_^ Looking forward to this :D

As for the rest .. working on another secret project at the moment, devouring one book after the other about mythology and stuff ... listening to the new Amberian Dawn album ... everything as it should be :)
Oh, and I got me a huuuuge DIN A2 (16 1/2" x 23 1/3") Fabriano block now ... no more fearing for details, I can go BIG now :D I'm so excited xD  Let's see what the future brings :)

I'm off for now, take care and don't forget me ;)

Serendipity.

Hello =)

Long time no read again, I'm so lazy, aren't I? Sorry :(

So after all I got rid of these chaotic days that were bugging me and everyhing's working again the way it should. Even my car is whole again now.
Means I also somehow got back my motivation for doing art, finishing all that stuff now that is flying around here and beginning my next commission and doing a few other things besides that. :)

So at first I would like to present my finished latest commission to you, the portrait drawing of the little sister of a friend of mine :)

Used a totally new technique for the hair here. I think I'm gonna keep this. Working with an eraser is fun and much easier than shading all the parts separately and causing a big mess that way.

Our little fuzzballs are also growing well, bringing us much fun :) They've become pretty big already for their 9 weeks now. Tomorrow we'll visit the vet with them, including their mother ... I bet they won't like it but well ...there are things in life that can't be avoided.

I also would like to post a video here for the song that is running up and down here at the moment. I think I found something new to listen to while drawing. :D

Ohh right ... I forgot the announcement here ... The reason why I'm moving on to new musical shores among other things. So:

I decided to not do any more Nightwish fan art from now on.
I have many reasons and will keep most of them for myself but among them are that I simply have no time anymore for producing NW fanart and also that I don't see why I should waste any more paint / graphite / canvas / paper on this circus. I rather do more useful things ;)

This doesn't mean I will stop drawing or painting, no. My life doesn't only consist of producing NW art. Gonna do a lot of other stuff in the future now, among them a new movie poster project for a friend of mine ^_^ Can't tell you too much and sadly can't post any pics yet but I'll tell you when the time has come :)

Oh, and I also re-vamped the structure and content of my web page a little, so if you feel like doing so, I would be happy about a visit! :) The template sadly still isn't installed though it's apparently finished now but well ... gonna see somewhen soon I guess.

So... yeah, much to do, so little time ... I need to vanish now :) See you all!

In the clutches of chaos.

Hello ... *wipes off dust* still anybody here?
Sorry, I had damn lot to do the last 2 months ..., barely came to do anything art related. But I'm trying to get back on track now :D

So first of all, a few may already know that I got myself a huuuuge inspiration when we were in italy, so I decided to broaden my artistic horizion and learn something new. Like - how did this artist (whoever it was..) at Palazzo Pitti in Florence paint these 3D - murals? Or how does drawing something inverted work? I must admit I got stuck here because other stuff came up again but I now am slowly catching up. Here's a few pics from my tries.

Besides that I had a spontaneous "I draw something creepy now" - attack, inspired by MandragorA ScreaM's "Luciferland" .. I don't know what that is but it always comes down to motives like those below when I hear this album o.O Steps and finished pic:

Aaand: since about 3 1/2 weeks we're having fluffy cute little fuzzballs! <3 4 of them <3 They're incredibly awesome, you can almost watch them growing more and more each day. They also are already little posers :D Here's a few photos for you, more will follow if they should ever hold still =_= Hard to get good photos when the pile is in permanent movement...

We don't have any names yet ... and it seems it's 3 guys and 1 girl <3 Can't wait for them to grow a bit bigger so that they can finally crawl around in the kitchen :D Until then I daily sit in front of the cardboard box watching them being cute <3

So ... all in all I slowly find back into life I think. When my car is fixed hopefully soon it can all go its normal path again. I'm slowly tired of murphy liking me too much letting every possible thing go wrong T_T

And so much for now, I'm off again doing stuff and so ^_^ See you next time.

A fairy tale from hell's caves.

Hello :D

Sorry for being late once more! I needed a few days to recover from the strenuous weekend and the ride home (8 hours to drive from here ... but it was so worth every minute ..)

So at first you get to see the finished 2nd artwork I took with me that I wasn't able to post anymore because I was in a hurry to pack and leave then:

The "draw this again" actually turned out pretty well. I like it much more than the first version from which I now think "omg how could I ever show this to anyone!?" xD

So to the vacation now! :D
First of all - Morgan and Terry loved my pictures and made me blush with their compliments ... I'm so happy I was able to make them happy ^_^ (Stupid sentence, I know.)

On friday we arrived around .. phew I don't know anymore must have been 9 am or so just to get to know from my friend that we could enter the hotel earliest 2 pm. Meaned having to kill 5 hours until we could go over there... so we first went to the beach and then parked in front of that bar we'd visit on sunday and switched on the radio / tried to sleep. I almost went nuts anyway before because there's no free parking spots in Viareggio. But we later on got a cheap 4 day parking ticket from the hotel so this problem was solved for now. Communication also was made safe so the vacation could begin :D
In late afternoon then we met up with this incredible guy, first going to drink something, talking about god and the world and giving out my little presents :)
Then Morgan came with two incredibly fluffy doggies and we went to eat something together, again having our fun and talking until after midnight.
Back at the hotel then nobody of us wanted to say goodbye fist but we had to go to bed because we wanted to go to Florence on saturday. (Ok I actually didn't want on the next day because I was kinda hung over from the evening before... ^^°) But anyway.

On saturday then we went to Florence ... running and running, having some ice cream and running again. (I must say italian ice cream is really delicious :D) What really impressed me in Florence was these rooms in Palazzo Pitti that looked like they were some some figurative artwork but in truth they were painted! Totally incredible. And it shows that 3D art isn't just a trend of these days but was used already long ago :D

In the evening then the train had some problems and we arrived back at Viareggio later than planned ... but that didn't keep me from dressing up and go out to eat another time with my heroes :D It again was an incredible evening I will never be able to forget again :) Afterwards I fell into bed dead-tired but happy as a kid that just got candy :D

Sunday we first went to Pisa, trying to do the famous "I keep the tower from falling" - pose but I somehow failed big time =_= Nobody's going to see that photo ever xD

I hurried up to get back then because we'd watch one of the famous sunday jams at the Corsaro Rosso then :D Ok I was tired as hell already when we arrived there but it was still an awesome evening where in the end I asked for a memory photo since we didn't know if it would work to meet up again on the next day. It took like I don't know, 7 or 8 tries until the camera did what we wanted but that didn't disturb me the least bit =^_^=

It's incredible what voice is there in someone so graceful O_O Truly. I sat there with my mouth open thinking woah. Awesome.
And this is the memory photo with the probably most wonderful being walking this earth (nah actually it's two of them. Morgan is just as wonderful as Terry :) I love them both more than words can say <3) Kudos to my friend here who actually made it then to defeat my camera and shoot this wonderful photo :D

So yeah ... on sunday we had to leave the hotel at around 11 am then and I didn't wanna walk around that much anymore so I decided to stay in the car after we went to the harbour because I wanted to save my power for the drive home and my friend ran through the small side streets while I tried to sleep a little but couldn't in the end because Terry would appear another time at around 2 pm. So we would go for a little breakfast and to the beach then, making already plans for my next vacation there before he had to leave. So ... yeah. I didn't really wanna go. I had already fallen in love, also with the breathtaking landscape there... but see yourself:

I want to move there ... seriously =_= If I ever have enough money left. Until then I will save to go there again. For at least a week. Especially because it's so damn cold here in germany o.O There it's ... nah ok you get roasted in the sun and frozen in the shadows xD But anyway better than here at home. We'll see.
All in all it was an unforgettable time that was like some kind of dream or out of some story I used to write in my earlier days ... just unbelievable. I believe in the good in mankind again. Honestly. :)

So far for now. I'll now keep recovering (oh damn am I lacking sleep...) and will finish a commission and grab a new one then ... need to save money, I need to go to the south again, come what may! O_O xD

See you next time! :)

Cabbage and turnips.

Hello =)

Things are going haywire here at the moment, I have a lot to do with the preparations for the journey to italy next week :D One of my tasks to do is to draw my guest gifts.  I wanna take 2 portraits with me for my 2 very special people I'm gonna visit with my friend ^_^
The first one's already finished:

Morgan Lacroix <3 Isn't she beautiful? *__* (Not my drawing but she herself) She's so damn awesome, I can't wait to see her :D :D
As for the other half ... I'm still working on it and I need to hurry up... only 6 days left =_= Here's some WIP's:

Yeah you've already seen this one, haven't you? ;) I'm drawing this again because the last time I ruined the chin in the end and I promised to do a better one :) But I'm not sure if this is gonna work, that pic gives me big problems especially the nose =_= We'll see. I don't give up all hope yet.

So everything that's left to do for vacation now is finishing that drawing, repeat as much italian as I can from my language course and get my car checked, oil and tires changed and then off to the south! :D I know this weekend will be damn awesome :D I'll put up some photos when I'm back!

I've also got a new hairdo yesterday since I was so fed up of that monotone one-color thing ... though the strands could have a been thicker ... well. Next time. (Yeah showing myself, you haven't seen me for a long time now! :D)

Yeah, so far for now. I'll carry on with my preparations now, see you all next time with a nice pile of photos from bella italia! ^_^

My opinion on "Endless forms most beautiful" by Nightwish. (3 CD Earbook)

Sooo... here now my detailed review for the new Nightwish album in which I'll turn every song twice to reveal all its hidden treasures (if there are some.)

I decided to once again go for the complete edition with 3 CDs including instrumentals as well as the orchestral versions for the sake of the completeness of my collection xD

Soo...

Let's begin with the cover and the physical content.
Who is used to the indigo of the last albums will sit there thinking "wtf" at first for a minute. But ey - changing color scheme isn't that bad. At least I think so. It brings in something fresh. Though I felt myself reminded of Epica at first in some way.
Not to mention this immensly detailed drawing ... I mean ... wow, that one's a genius who is able to create stuff like this!
The earbook comes  in the size of a vinyl record, in stable cardboard and printed in black and silver. Incredibly beautiful.

The 3 CDs are packed nicely right at the first page of the book. When you turn the pages you'll find a 25 page book with the lyrics and stunning graphics. (I have only one photo of this here (of my fave graphic out of them all) because it's sooo much it would really get too big here.) In the back part photos of the band and from the recording. Neat. Very neat. I love the graphics. They're awesome. Someone has put real effort into the design of this album. Me gusta.

Then to the songs

1. Shudder before the beautiful
Comes as a mix of Dark Chest of Wonders and Storytime at first with a slight bit of Stratovarius. Orchestra from Once, hard guitar riffs. The old Nightwish recipe here with an interesting little new element. On top Floors voice to which the ears still aren't adjusted somehow but that fits good into the whole picture. I have to say the song bored the hell out of me at first because the spontanity was somehow missing. But after a few more listens it's not that bad anymore. Also the whoosh that I love so much about symphonic metal appears then after all. The chorus melody immediately gets stuck in your ears. I love the choir part that literally puts you somewhere out into nature where you gaze up into the stars at night and feel absolutely small and un-important. The instrumental inbetween is made very well. The end of the song has again much of Once.
Well-made song in general. Me gusta.

2. Weak Fantasy
A very dramatic, but somehow very movie-score like beginning (well ok the whole album has something of a movie score if you ask me.) And a friend has pointed out to parallels with Billy Idol's song "Flesh for fantasy" that I don't find that out of the blue. The question is: coincidence or intention? ;) The chorus is Billy Idol in any case. 10 minus points for originality. I mean the song itself isn't bad at all, no. But copied is and stays copied. Sorry.
But the melody gives the text somehow a very fitting, slightly aggressive creepy effect. It has kind of an end time - feeling to me.
What belongs to the text... I'm very baffled to hear / read something like this from the feather of the maestro himself. Would have never believed that day would come. Respect.
Yeah ... have nothing more to add.

3. Élan
Nothing what I haven't already said. At first I found this song boring as hell (Another one, yeah.) and thought of it as a 2nd last of the wilds. Didn't change even after hearing it repeatedly. Only after I had the single running in my car while driving through the mountains near here I slowly started to get what the writer wanted to express with this song. Like already with Shudder before the beautiful you feel small and so un-important when you have something as majestic as the mountains in front of you while hearing that song.
Not much to say for the arrangement. Sounds a little like Amaranth or reminds me of it. Typically Nightwish. But still after "Our decades in the sun" the 2nd weakest song on the album.

4. Yours is an empty hope
Recycled riff from Dead gardens right at the beginning. I do understand that it's hard to come up with something new after all this years but well..
But as soon as Floor starts singing it becomes ok. What I find interesting here - because NW never had that in this form - the grunting in the chorus. (Who's grunting here, Floor or Marco?) A little strange at first to hear this on a symphonic metal album but it's somehow a nice little new thing.
I also like the instrumental part a lot. It brings back the Imaginaerum - atmosphere and puts you right back into a freak show for a moment. (Yeah, I just love that album I can't help it. xD)
Then a little Master passion greed at the ending ... well what can I say but: song ok but way too much stuff recycled.

5. Our decades in the sun
I like the atmosphere of that song somehow. But it again has this Tarot - lasty sound that I already found un-fitting for a Nightwish album with "Turn loose the mermaids".
Ok in the whole but for me the weakest song on the album.

6. My Walden
Holy moly do I like this (so Nightwish - un-typical in some way) beginning! I think the language welsh. And it has something magical about it. (Who sings that? Troy?)
The whole song sounds like a completely different world that you also immediately see before you. Has I think a book as reference where I don't remember the title anymore.
Nice elements from Troy, nice arrangement. I assume this could be the next single.
Don't have much to say to this but: LIKE.

7. Endless forms most beautiful
Reminds extremely of storytime in the beginning. Typical Nightwish song that is well... somehow ok but doesn't really get you hooked. Don't know. Haven't much to say about this one. Just maybe that I like the bombast in it.
Well... average song.

8. Edema Ruh
Very beautiful, dreamy beginning. The song title has a book (The name of the wind) by Patrick Rothfuss as reference. (A very nicely written book like I think because I've started reading it out of interest.)
Beautifully arranged in general, beautiful melody that gets stuck in your ear and lets pictures appear in front of your inner eye. Nice Floor x I don't know who (Troy?) part at 3 minutes 40. The little keyboard sprinkles here and there give that song a certain magic.
All in all, very good. Could also be a single.

9. Alpenglow
Alpine fires then, yeah? (I can't believe that google translator doesn't have a better word for this, really.) The song has reminded me at first from the text / the story very much of Eluveitie, I just couldn't help myself xD
The Intro is clearly taken from Ever dream. Partly. What disturbs me already on other songs on the album is this snaring drums that gives an impression of low quality in some way in my ears...
The voice acrobatics of Floor are just awesome and sound quite dangerous in some parts. Fits the song very well. Here also this "we were here" - thread starts weaving itself through the songs where I don't yet understand what this is about.
Partly also very atmospheric song. Well... well done in any case I'd say.

10. The eyes of Sharbat Gula
The eyes of that girl that probably everyone has already seen on that famous photo.
I had expected a heavy track like Master passion greed here but instead there's a movie score stomping towards you. Very cool, somehow tibetan / indian flair due to the use of exotic instruments that I like very much. I can't say it often enough: Tuomas should do movie scores. That song simply rocks. Even without guitar or big drums. Nothing more to say except: LIKE.

11. The greatest show on earth
BOOM. And I mean with that: boom! Very nice piano intro that has a sudden and unexpected explosive end. Epicness is epic and so. Also again the dangerous nouance of Floors voice here.
I don't even start with a song description here because this would take days I think. I can only say: 1. With 24:01 minutes the longest song I think I've ever heard. 2. For me very fascinating in some way because I like natural sciences very much too (though I'm more at home in the rock department here.) and 3. Well.. bombast! Can't help myself but loving this song. I feel almost slain by it. I'm not sure if I can do justice to this majestic song with the painting I've planned for it ... Very much diversity. Interesting also the animal noises inbetween and the end with those.
Very beautiful.

Final conclusion:
Very unfamiliar to new. But still again everything known well. And somehow more like a movie score than a metal album. I think the album is very complex and it takes more to multiple listens to take it all in. (But please with good earphones or a good stereo system. In this point Tuomas sadly is right. Much of the sound gets lost when you listen to it via laptop speakers or phone.) The melodies are hard to remember this time because the songs have almost no structure at first and that makes it hard to make them stick in the brain..
With Floor, this band has unending possibilities now. Just listen to that vocal variety!
Very cool also (though I'm not a fan of that evolution theory stuff) that Richard Dawkins appears at some points on that album. You can really hear out that Tuomas must love his subject deeply. Just like I love rocks maybe. The album is for me a score for (also the birth of) the earth, to life itself somehow.
And I love the bombast. I just love it. And the dreamy parts.
On my personal level, this album has an incredible inner power that tries to show you the beauty of life in all its forms.
Very nicely done, but more movie score than metal in my ears.

I left out the instrumentals and the orchestrals here because I think there's not much to say about them.

And for those of you who still have the leak version: ditch it. The real record is mixed better. At least that's what I think. The quality is way better.

News from the art swamp.

Hello =)

I'm a lazy writer in 2015, aren't I? :-/
Well there's been a lot of stuff happening in my formerly so quiet and calm life that left no space in my brain for any art or even getting everyday business done ... but now it has all calmed down and I can go back to normal. And write blog entries again :D

So first of all ... I got to lay my hands on some new Nightwish material (I know, bad me but well ...) and first absolutely disliked it. But after listening repeatedly I think I got the spirit behind it and so I transformed a painting that was originally meant to be an artwork for Oonagh's song "Gäa" into the first painting for "Endless forms most beautiful". The painting for "Shudder before the beautiful" :)
It was mostly the choir part that smashed me off my chair here and that I tried to include into the atmosphere. I wanted to create a place where you are somewhere out in nature but feel that you're not on this planet right at the moment when you let the spirit of the place and the awe take over your heart and gaze up to the stars. :) So here it is:

Inspiration was also the photomanip of a friend of mine. Well ok, that actually was the first spark for this idea ^_^°

You can buy the original painting at my etsy and get prints on society6 :)

Well and  the 2nd thing I'm working on (and can't seem to get forward, I'm just so lazy =_=) is a commission for a friend. I'm drawing her little sister :D Here's a few WIP's:

Gotta get this finished and then continue with a few artworks I'll take with me to italy ... heck, so little time left! =_= I wonder if I'll make it until then. I highly doubt it. :(

So ... what else?
I'm thinking about some kind of photo / video project for Élan ... because every time I have that song running in my car driving along the mountains here it just hits the nail on the head. Though I need to find something to process videos then because I can't render videos here since I still got that weak processor =_= We'll see.

And besides that I'm gazing at a few amazing images I wanna convert into portraits ^_^ Among them one I wanna make into an inverted color portrait because it HAS to be in color. Pencil would ruin the whole atmosphere. But I won't say more yet ;)

And a few drawing tutorials, yeah that's what I wanted to do.
So much to do, so little time ...

So I'm off to work again now! See y'all! :)
